Rick (Fen) Fenwick

Drums, Percussion

Richard (Fen) Fenwick studied classical percussion at Eastern Illinois University where he received a BA in music education. He is formerly a graduate teaching assistant from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a graduate of the United States Army Element School of Music in Norfolk, VA. Most recently he has attended jazz studies at Georgia State University and has studied jazz drumming with Billy Degnats and Justin Varnes.

Fen is a veteran of the United States Army, having served five years as an interrogator and Korean linguist before re-classing into the band field as an army drummer. He has played before three United States presidents, five heads of state and numerous dignitaries in venues around the world, to include the Budokan Stage in Tokyo, Japan. Of his varied performances, he considers the ceremonies at Fort Benning’s Ranger Memorial to be his most memorable.

Upon his exit from the army, Fen moved to the Atlanta area where he began teaching privately and performing freelance. In addition to playing frequent gigs with the FlyCats, Fen is the one-man percussion section behind The Bavarian Express, Atlanta’s premier German/Oktoberfest Band.

In 2010 he formed The Five O’Clock Trio, playing Latin and jazz standards on vibraphone with bassist Doug Rolph and vocalist/percussionist Maria Rossoto. In 2012 Fen formed The Dirty Doors, THE Doors tribute band of the Southeast.

Richard (Fen) Fenwick is married to vocalist, percussionist and drummer Maria Rossoto. They live in Decatur, Georgia where they “cater” to three cats.
